Indigenous Culture and Media Innovations is an artist-run charitable organization. ICMI was created out of a recognized need for Indigenous access into the arts. Through project initiatives, productions, educational and workshop endeavours, ICMI opens its doors to the Indigenous community. One of the organization’s main objectives is the promotion of Indigenous art and artists.
- The objectives of Indigenous Culture and Media Innovations are as follows:
- To improve and enhance the quality of life for Indigenous people with priority to youth and women.
- To reduce conditions of poverty in the Indigenous community with priority to youth and women.
- To create opportunities for broader awareness and understanding about the Indigenous community.
- ICMI is committed to facilitating the arts in the Indigenous community. Through the creation, presentation, exhibition, workshop, educational and project initiatives ICMI aims to develop, promote and present the works of Indigenous artists. ICMI also develops initiatives, which enhance the skills development of emerging, mid career and established artists in a wide range of artistic disciplines including media arts, community arts, visual arts and theatre arts.
